The KG+ Award Grand Prix winner in 2019. Fukushima photographed the elderly he met over the 10 years while he worked as a bento box delivery man in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. “At first, I felt like I was facing death, but as I continued shooting over many years, I began to feel that I was facing life.'' Through Fukushima's work we are aware of the strain of society and the awe of human vitality. Curators from all over the world complimented the 2019 KG+ Award Grand Prix winning works, which will be fully exhibited in a machiya (townhouse) in central Kyoto.
